Three spunky women take on a small-time neighborhood teenage gang. Who
do you suppose is going to win? The three womenGinny, Kate, and Lady Dihave been friends
since high school; and now, widowed, divorced, or never wed, they live together and have fun doing it.
The fun roles can be played by actresses of any age. Older women will add realism to the parts. Young
ones will get a good workout in character development. (Lady Di is not meant to be Princess Diana;
this play was written before her tragic accident. The word Lady may be omitted, or the name may be
changed). An alternate title for the play is Hapless Teens and Spunky Ladies.Kate is an
electronics expert who has invented, among other things, a remote control that will zap loud boom boxes
in cars passing by. Overweight Ginny is constantly trying to diet, but sneaks a bite of cake when the
others aren't looking. Lady Di is sophisticated and regal, and the widow of a very rich husband. Some
of the teenage characters are those whose loud radios have been zapped by Kate's remote, and they, with
the help of their neighborhood gang, decide to get revenge by breaking into the women's home and
robbing them. They get an unexpected welcome when the women find out about the planned burglary and are
waiting for them. (Permission is granted to change the teen slang, idiomatic language, and topical
references if desired.) A video of the premiere at Green River Community College, Auburn,
Washington, shows the fun. It is available for sale or rent from I. E. Clark Publications. The author
was ecstatic about the audience response, commenting: "by the time we got to the spilled buckets of
water in the last scene, there were times when it was difficult to follow the dialogue because of the
laughter." 3-act comedy; simple set, modern clothes; opportunity for lots of stage effects
(one cast had a motorcycle roar up a ramp).
